a red train on the tracks

San Diego is filled with countless adventures, many of which are only a short distance away from your room at InterContinental San Diego. Located on the downtown waterfront, our luxury hotel is within walking distance of some of the most popular attractions in town. However, if you feel like checking out a different way of exploring, look no further than the San Diego trolley lines.

How to Navigate the Trolley System

San Diego’s Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) offers a trolley light rail service that connects downtown with South Bay, East County, UC San Diego, and the Mexico border. This mode of transportation is a great way to plan day trips to further destinations without worrying about a car.
There are three lines to explore: the UC San Diego Blue Line, Green Line, and Orange Line. There are several Green and Blue line stops nearby, including the Santa Fe Depot and Seaport Village station. To determine the best line and stops for your adventures, take a look at the schedule or use the MTS’s schedule planner.
In addition to the newer trolleys, the Silver Line operates three restored vintage trolleys. This service only runs on Saturdays and Sundays and is a unique way to explore downtown.

Go for a San Diego Trolley Tour

Another great trolley option is the excursions offered by Old Town Trolley Tours. There are several different rides to choose from, including both one-day and two-day passes. Other popular outings include the Ghosts & Gravestones and City Lights Night tours.

Enjoy a Luxurious San Diego Home Base

After navigating the San Diego trolley lines on your way to memorable adventures, rest up back at InterContinental San Diego. Our downtown hotel has everything you need to unwind after a day of exploring this California town.
Grab a bite to eat at one of our world-class restaurants or go for a swim in the fourth-floor rooftop pool. When you’re ready to call it a night, feel at ease the moment you step foot in your hotel room. To learn more about our accommodation options or ways to save on your stay, call 619-501-9400.
